SEGRO and ITP deliver seven years of sustained workforce and carbon benefits at East Midlands Gateway

East Midlands | January 2026 - A long‑term partnership between SEGRO and ITP has delivered sustained workforce and carbon benefits at SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway, demonstrating how early investment and long‑term commitment can drive lasting behaviour change at scale. The programme has now been shortlisted for the Best Behaviour Change & Public Engagement Award at the Decarbonising Transport Awards 2026.
ITP was appointed by SEGRO to develop and deliver a data led travel programme tailored to the realities of a large, 24 hour logistics workforce. Since the early occupation of the park, travel behaviour has been monitored annually, providing clear evidence over seven years that high levels of sustainable commuting have been maintained over time.
Today, just 42% of employees drive alone, down from a baseline of 80%. Car sharing accounts for 38% of trips and bus use stands at 14%, removing more than 21 million car kilometres from the road each year and saving over 11,500 tonnes of carbon. Employees also benefit from an estimated £7 million in commuting cost savings.
The national award shortlisting recognises the strength of this long term, partnership led approach and reinforces SEGRO’s position as a leader in delivering sustainable, people focused employment locations.
